February Furnace Cleaning That Restored Comfort & Confidence

|

When JT scheduled furnace service with Authority Heating & Cooling, his system had seen better days. Dust, wear, and performance issues raised real concerns about safety and comfort. Technician Brandon P. arrived in uniform, walked JT through the visit, and got to work.

“Brandon P. did an amazing job cleaning my furnace and taking the extra time to make sure everything was done correctly! My furnace was in really bad shape and now is so much cleaner and working better.

The combustion analysis helped me know that the furnace was derated properly, so adjusting the gas pressure and setting everything properly! Thanks again, Brandon!"

A Thorough Furnace Overhaul, from Start to Finish

Brandon performed a full furnace overhaul. He cleaned the burners, burner cabinet, flame sensor, blower wheel, blower motor, and blower cabinet. He inspected the filters and confirmed they did not need replacement at that time.

Next, he checked the gas pressure. The furnace measured 3.5” WC at sea level, which he properly derated to 3.1” WC for the home’s altitude. A temperature rise test confirmed correct gas pressure and proper furnace operation.

Combustion Analysis for Safety & Performance

To give JT added confidence, Brandon completed a combustion analysis test to check the integrity of the heat exchanger; the system passed this test. He also inspected all electrical components and found them within manufacturer specifications, except for the inducer motor. Rated at 1.75 amps, the inducer motor drew 1.8 amps with intermittent spikes up to 2.0 amps, indicating it is over-amping and should be monitored for potential future failure.

After cleaning, the flame sensor measured 2.3 microamps. Brandon tested the run capacitor, rated at 5 MFD ±5%, and recorded 4.1 MFD, which falls below the acceptable range. Even with these findings, the system operated from the thermostat at the end of the visit.

Pride in Honest, Detailed Work

Authority Heating & Cooling takes real pride in work like this. As our team shared afterward:

This is exactly the kind of experience we aim to deliver every time. Brandon took the extra time to not only clean the system, but to verify everything was operating safely and efficiently through combustion analysis and proper adjustments. It’s a great example of how our team focuses on long term performance and customer confidence, not just a one time service.
